Notable Networker Award - July
)
The Notable Networker Award this month goes to Saverio Di Mondo, who provided his fellow networking partners with the highest number of referrals - not only referrals in Brampton and referrals in Mississauga which are a major part of our chapter's territory, but also referrals in Oakville and Toronto as well.
Saverio is seen here received the award from Vice-President Wendy Beatty.
Who will it be next month?
Water Balloon Fights & Referrals
)
So what does doing business have to do with a water balloon fight? Plenty if you're talking about the summer BBQ for the BNI Leading Edge members!
Saturday the chapter held its annual summer BBQ at a Balbir Pabila's home in Mississauga. Balbir is an Arbonne consultant and the chapter's social event coordinator. She was seconded in her role by Dr. Serge Lanoue chiropractor, event co-conspirator and BBQ master chef.
It was a great opportunity for the members and some of their spouses and family members to get together and get to know one another better in order to help provide better referrals for one another. Last year, the members exchanged referrals in Brampton, this year it was in Mississauga.
The photo above was taken before the water balloon fight, and as you can imagine everyone was too busy during the fight to take pictures!
Many thanks to Balbir and Serge for organizing yet another fantastic event!
Tanya Hemming Honoured for 20 Year Membership
)
Today was Tanya Hemming's day to shine.
She was officially recognized for 20 years of BNI Membership by Jeannot Lamarre - BNI Director Consultant for the BNI Leading Edge chapter. Although Tanya has actually been a member for 22 years, the celebration was delayed until today. She is the second longest standing member of the BNI Leading Edge chapter after chapter President Saverio Di Mondo seen smiling in the picture above.
Tanya sells ladies' scarves and jewelry that can be given as gifts for the important women in our lives. She has clients all around the GTA and most of all in Mississauga and Brampton. You can find out about her business here.
Tanya was also recognized for the Spirit Award, a recognition of sportsmanship and most improved performance at the recent Axe Throwing event.
Showing up is half the battle - how absenteeism hurts your business
)
We had the pleasure of having Jeannot Lamarre - BNI Director Consultant for our chapter - demonstrate how absenteeism at your BNI meeting hurts your business by reducing the number of referrals you get from your referral partners.
Without saying a word, Jeannot put a chair in the middle of the room and set one of his business cards upon it. He then gestured to BNI Leading Edge Dentist Dr. Cyril Tahtadjian to approach the seat, after which Jeannot promptly left the room.
Befuddled, Dr. T took the seat and the card an proceeded to improvise an infomercial for Jeannot. The point was that in order to get referrals you have to be present at the weekly meeting, and even if you send a substitute as per BNI rules, they can't give as good an infomercial as you can because after all: who knows your business better than you do?
