There was a special recognition for Balbir Pabila, Independent Consultant with Arbonne, as she had brought the most visitors to our chapter in July. She is seen here on the left accepting the award from current chapter President Dr. Serge Lanoue.

Balbir is an active networker, and she come across many business women and business men who are interested in growing their business through referrals. She then invites these business people to see if word-of-mouth marketing would help them grow their business.

Balbir is easily able to generate referrals in Brampton and Mississauga - where she is most active - but she also covers the rest of the Toronto area and is able to serve customers in many countries across the world.

It's exciting when a visitor to joins the chapter: it means more networking opportunities, a larger business network, and of course more referrals exchanged between the members.

As part of the annual Summer BNI Game where the members compete based on who brings in the most referrals, the most visitors and a few other metrics, Charlene Souster-Morris (right) is seen accepting a crisp $100 dollar bill from President Dr. Serge Lanoue, because one of the visitors Charlene invited to the chapter has actually joined the chapter! Stay tuned for the new member announcement!

Charlene offers home and auto insurance within the group, and has been getting business referrals from Brampton, Mississauga, Oakville and other areas around the GTA since she joined. She's also very respected at providing referrals to the other members as well.

Saverio DiMondo (left) has just announced he is renewing his membership for the 24th year! He is thanked and congratulated by BNI Leading Edge chapter President Dr. Serge Lanoue, chiropractor.

Saverio is actually one of the founding members of BNI Leading Edge all those years ago, and he said there were only 6 members when the chapter started since the BNI concept was so new.

He has stayed on all those years and is renewing again because a good chunk of his business is directly attributable to referrals he received from fellow BNI members. As a Senior Financial Advisor with Manulife Securities in Mississauga, Saverio meets with a lot of people on a daily basis, and BNI has allowed him to grow his personal network of contacts as well as forge both long term business and personal relationships. Business referrals and friendships, does it get any better than that?

The BNI Leading Edge members are a pretty driven bunch, which is why we held a social event at the Centennial Mini-Indy Go-Kart track in Etobicoke. Zooming around the track as fast as the karts could go, the drivers were trying to get an edge in to overtake other drivers ahead of them. Friends and family joined us for this event.

It was clear to see the competitive nature of our business women and businessmen on the race track being balanced by the cooperative attitude as the members exchanged business referrals to help each other grow their respective businesses.  Some members were Brampton-based and others were Mississauga-based, but they we all looking to help one another succeed. That's what networking and word-of-mouth marketing does for a business.

All the seats were filled last Thursday for BNI Leading Edge's "Grow Your Business Through Referrals" event, as business owners from Missisauga, Brampton, Oakville and Etobicoke gathered to exchange business referrals.

This events was meant to show business owners how BNI can help them grow their business by:

• building relationships with fellow business owners
